Counterpoint is a groundbreaking collaboration between pianist and composer Conrad Tao and dancer-choreographer Caleb Teicher. Together, they explore the intersections of music and dance, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. Their performances feature a thrilling mix of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Art Tatum’s exuberant jazz, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, weaving improvisation with classical and contemporary dance in a shared, spontaneous experience. Their previous work, More Forever, received the prestigious Bessie Award and was praised by The New York Times for “constantly extending the sonic aspects of dance.” Prepare for a performance that defies boundaries and redefines the art of collaboration!

Caleb Teicher is a celebrated NYC-based dancer and choreographer known for their musically driven tap and swing dance. A founding member of Michelle Dorrance’s Dorrance Dance, Caleb has performed and choreographed for venues such as Lincoln Center and the Guggenheim Museum. Teicher’s interdisciplinary projects span collaborations with the National Symphony Orchestra, Regina Spektor, and beatboxer Chris Celiz. Recognized with multiple Bessie Awards and featured in The New York Times, NPR, and Dance Magazine, Caleb is a transformative force in modern dance.

An alum of the AMFS attending since age 10, Conrad Tao is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, hailed by The New York Times for his “open-hearted vision.” A recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and Gilmore Young Artist Award, Conrad has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics. His original works, such as Everything Must Go, have been celebrated globally, and his collaboration with Teicher, More Forever, earned a Bessie Award for Outstanding Sound Design and Music Composition.
