Nancy Wu

Nancy Wu has served as Associate Concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 1989, and from 2019 to 2022 as Acting Principal Associate Concertmaster. She has performed numerous times with the MET Chamber Ensemble, and has been a guest artist at the Verbier Festival and the Fondation Pierre Giannada. Ms. Wu graduated with honors from Stanford University, after which she studied in Vienna on a Fulbright scholarship at the Hochschule für Musik, receiving a Diploma with Distinction. She has been on the faculty for the Mannes School of Music/the New School since 2015, has been a violin coach for the Pan Caucasian Youth Orchestra of the Tsinandali Festival since 2019, and was a violin coach for the Verbier Festival Orchestra from its founding in 2000 until 2021. Ms. Wu has served on the Advisory Board of the Metropolitan Opera Association since 2021 as the orchestra and Local 802 representative. She lives in Pleasantville, NY with her husband, Aspen artist-faculty member and MET Orchestra Associate Principal double bass, Leigh Mesh.
