A CURRENT FACULTY MEMBER AT THE MANHATTAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC, HUANG JOINS THE AMFS FACULTY AS DIRECTOR OF MUSICAL ADMINISTRATION AND HEAD COACH OF ASPEN’S NEW OPERA PROGRAM.

ASPEN, COLORADO—The Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) has announced the appointment of Myra Huang as Director of Musical Administration for its new Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS Program, joining co-artistic directors Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers. Ms. Huang is a leading opera coach and collaborative pianist, currently serving on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music. She served as head of music staff at New York City Opera from 2011 to 2013 and is part of the teams at The Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, The Atkins Program in The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and the Steans Institute at Ravinia.
Says AMFS President and CEO Alan Fletcher, “Myra is highly sought after in the opera world and bringing her to Aspen to join our opera team with Renée and Patrick makes for a staggering concentration of opera knowledge and genius. I know I speak for the entire opera faculty when I say I’m so pleased she will be joining us here.”
Ms. Huang is also a performing recitalist and recording artist. She made her 92nd St Y debut in March 2020 with mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron. Her recordings have received critical acclaim from the New York Times, Gramophone UK, Opera News and The Boston Globe. Her recent album “Gods and Monsters” with tenor Nicholas Phan was nominated for the “Best Classical Vocal Solo Album” category at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
