See the conducting stars of tomorrow in these engaging concerts where student conductors rotate between conducting a movement of a work, or playing in the orchestra. Program Director and AMFS Music Director Robert Spano observes the work of his students at this weekly event.
Mahler’s 5th Symphony provides a dramatic and triumphant sendoff for the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra and an exhilarating challenge for the conducting students. It includes Mahler’s “greatest hit” the exquisite Adagietto for strings and harp, a musical love letter to Alma Schindler, a socialite 20 years his junior who would soon become his wife.
Hear one of Mahler’s most exhilarating symphonies in the season’s final Aspen Conducting Academy concert led by tomorrow’s conducting stars!
