Harp

The Aspen Music Festival and School harp department offers the opportunity to play premier assignments alongside artist-faculty from major U.S. orchestras or as principal in a variety of ensembles. Important Program Information

  • Applicants should submit the financial aid form for access to all funding opportunities.
  • VIDEO audition recordings are required.
  • Applicants interested in the Aspen Chamber Symphony (ACS) principal harp fellowship must submit the additional required excerpts.
  • Students under the age of 18 do not play in orchestra but may take private lessons and participate in chamber music.

STANDARD HARP REPERTOIRE

All harp applicants must submit the standard repertoire in 4 INDIVIDUAL VIDEO TRACKS.

  • FAURÉ: Impromptu Op 86, beginning to allegro con moto
  • HANDEL: Concerto in B flat Major, op, 4, No. 6, 1st movement, any edition, beginning to first repeat
  • BERLIOZ: Symphony Fantastique, first page  
  • TCHAIKOVSKY: Valse des Fleurs Cadenza from “The Nutcracker Suite”

HARP FELLOWSHIP CONSIDERATION

Please include all repertoire above and below, for a total of 8 INDIVIDUAL VIDEO TRACKS.

  • HANDEL: Concerto in B flat Major, op, 4, No. 6, any edition, entire first movement
  • WAGNER:  Die Meistersinger, Act 3 excerpt (click for PDF)
  • RAVEL: Tzigane Cadenza
  • STRAVINSKY: Symphony in Three Movements, 3rd movement, one measure before #172 to one measure before #181 

The ACS principal harp fellowship position is available for 2025.
