Trumpet
The Aspen Music Festival and School trumpet department offers the opportunity to play premier assignments alongside artist-faculty from major U.S. orchestras or as principal in a variety of ensembles. Important Program Information
- Applicants should submit the financial aid form for access to all funding opportunities
- VIDEO audition recordings are required
- Students under the age of 18 do not play in orchestra but may take private lessons and participate in chamber music

How to Apply
APPLICATION OPENS SEPTEMBER 15
- Resume required
- Two letters of recommendation encouraged but not required
Audition repertoire must be submitted IN THE ORDER LISTED BELOW. VIDEO recording is required, on ONE TRACK, without breaks, and with NO SPLICING. Auditions that do not comply with these guidelines will not be considered. Do not include your name in the video title or description.
- 3 to 5 minutes of a solo work of your choice (sonata, concerto, etude, etc.); recordings with or without accompaniment will be evaluated equally.
- Orchestral excerpts (excerpts provided as links in each title):
- MUSSORGSKY/RAVEL: Pictures at an Exhibition
(opening to Reh. 2, Trumpet in C) - RAVEL: Piano Concerto in G major (First movement, Reh. 2 to Reh. 3; Reh. 36 to end)
- STRAUSS: Ein Heldenleben: 1st Eb trumpet: Battle Scene (7 measures after 49 to 55)
- STRAUSS: Don Juan (five after F to three before G, Trumpet in E)
- MUSSORGSKY/RAVEL: Pictures at an Exhibition
